RISKADAPT Special Session at ECCA2025

RISKADAPT shared its innovative solutions at the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2025), on June 18 in Rimini, Italy. We presented the RISKADAPT platform in a dedicated session alongside our sister projects, ICARIA and MIRACA. The session: “Strategies and Tools for Improving Infrastructure Resilience in Multi-Hazard Contexts”, brought together people from a wide range of backgrounds, all sharing a commitment to making our systems more resilient to climate extremes.

Our team introduced the RISKADAPT online platform, PRISKADAPT. PRISKADAPT is an intuitive, modular and adaptable tool designed to help relevant stakeholders make informed decisions as regards the protection of infrastructures and services from extreme weather events.

The platform offers through a user-friendly, map-based online interface functionalities that support asset initialization, fragility and risk assessments, economical, environmental and social impact. It will be flexible enough to expand to additional hazards or asset types and can be customized for different user groups, such as planners, engineers and local communities. Above all, it is designed to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and practical, real-world adaptation decisions. The platform supports forward-looking, practical solutions that build confidence and reduce risk in theory as well as in practice.

The session was vibrant and interactive, with many participants engaging deeply during the Q&A. The discussion focused on the importance of understanding and addressing social impacts, a core part of our platform. Attendees were particularly interested in how our approach can support more inclusive, community-aware adaptation strategies. This kind of dialogue reinforces why co-creation with stakeholders is essential, as it helps shape tools that are not only technically sound but also grounded in real needs and everyday realities.

This session was an important step in connecting directly with those working on the front lines of climate adaptation. It allowed us to build new relationships, strengthen trust, and gather valuable feedback that will inform the next stages of our platform development.

By listening to stakeholders’ concerns, proposing practical tools, and working collaboratively, we are laying the groundwork for lasting, impactful change.
